Witham’s Member of Parliament, Priti Patel, joined a special ceremony held at the AKA Restaurant & Lounge in Newland Street on Friday (11th November), to present a large cheque from AKA to the Witham Hub, represented by the Chair of the Hub’s board of trustees, Tina Townsend.
AKA held a special fundraising charity evening for the Witham Hub and they raised an impressive £2475. Priti officiated at the presentation of the cheque.
Priti Patel said: “I was delighted to join this very special presentation and witness this partnership between Witham’s local business community and voluntary groups. AKA has raised a significant amount to support the work of the Witham Hub and I would like to thank them for all their support of this important Hub.”
Alex Lai, the owner of AKA Restaurant & Lounge said: “I am pleased to support our local community and am delighted that our fundraising efforts will make a difference to the work of the Witham Hub. As it is our two year anniversary this week, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers, local community and our team members in making this happen.”
Speaking after the presentation, Tina Townsend, Chair of the Witham Hub’s board of trustees said: “We are extremely grateful to AKA Restaurant and Lounge for their superb fundraising evening and their generosity. We moved to new, larger premises earlier this year so that we can continue to improve our service to the Witham community but this means fundraising is a constant requirement to meet the extra expense. This contribution is a huge help to us.”
