The Witham Hub aims to further or benefit the community of Witham and surrounding areas without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or political, religious or other opinions. By working together with residents, local, district and county council authorities, voluntary and other organisations with a common goal we aim to provide facilities and advance education in the interest of social welfare, for recreation and leisure time with the objective of improving the conditions of life for our users. In order to achieve this the trustees shall have the power to establish and maintain a community centre with the cooperation of any statutory authority in order to promote the activities and objectives as outlined above.
To promote social inclusion for the public benefit of individuals living within the town of Witham and its surrounding area by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. To develop the capacity and skills of individuals living within that community who are socially and economically disadvantaged in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society..
For the purpose of this clause “socially excluded” means being excluded from society, parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors
• Financial hardship
• Youth or old age
• Ill health (physical or mental)
• Substance abuse or dependency
• Discrimination on the grounds of protective characteristic
• Poor educational or skills attainment
• Relationship or family breakdown
